Masala Chai Syrup

Enjoy the chai tea flavor in your coffee, on your pancakes or in your desserts. Chai simple syrup is super versatile & easy to make.

Equipment

  • 1 sauce pan

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 tablespoon Masala Chai Tea use a prepared mix or make your own

Instructions
 

  • In a medium sauce pan mix the water and sugar.
  • Bring to a boil on medium heat and stir the the sugar is dissolved.
  • Remove the pot from the heat and add the tea with the spices. Let steep for about 5 minutes.
  • Strain the mixture trough a sieve into a clean bottle or jar with a tight lid.
  • Let cool and store in the fridge.

Notes

Masala Chai Tea:
You can make chai simple syrup with tea bags or loose tea. Use a masala chai tea mix, often referred to spiced tea on the package, or make your own by mixing black tea leaves with your choice of spices. You can also get a masala spice mix and add that together with the black tea.
 
Storage:
Keep your syrup in the fridge for up to 3 weeks or freeze. Expand the shelf life with a sterilized bottle and citric acid (find more details in the post)
