❤️Why you will love this recipe

  • Easy to make: You don't need any fancy equipment for this recipe but get to enjoy a coffee shop standard latte!
  • Better than store-bought: Skip the overpriced seasonal drinks and make a better version at home.
  • Coffee Shop style latte: Instead of getting your specialty seasonal lattes at the coffee shop, simply make this one at home. It is cheaper and tastes so much better!
  • Tastes like a holiday treat: The eggnog instantly transforms your daily latte into a super creamy, comforting coffee that is the perfect treat during the holidays. Or all winter long honestly!
  • Versatile: This latte can be made in so many ways so it works for everyone! Whether you want it dairy-free, iced, or even spiked for a holiday party, make it your own!

If you love your daily lattes, then this one’s a must-try this Winter. Smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of holiday flavor! This cozy drink will keep you warm all Winter long. Curl up with a mug, and let the warm, festive flavors brighten your day!

🥣Equipment

If you’ve ever made a latte at home, you likely already have what you need:

  • Espresso Maker: An espresso machine works best, but a normal coffee brewer, a Moka pot, or Aeropress would work too. Just make sure to brew a strong coffee.
  • Milk Frother: A built-in frother makes it easy to heat and froth the eggnog and milk. If you don't have one built into your espresso machine simply heat up your milk and eggnogg in a small sauce pan and use a hand frother.
  • Mug: Use your favorite mug! A sturdy, heat-retaining mug keeps the latte warm longer.

📝The Ingredients

You will need a few simple ingredients for this latte recipe:

  • Espresso: Freshly brewed espresso is best for a bold flavor. Go for a strong, dark roast to get a rick result.
  • Eggnog: Any store-bought or homemade eggnog works. Go with a classic version or switch it up with flavored eggnog.
  • Milk: Whole milk creates the creamiest texture, but 2% or even a non-dairy options like oat or almond milk will work.
  • Nutmeg: Freshly grated nutmeg has the most aroma, but pre-ground works too.

👩🏻‍🍳How to Eggnog Latte at home

Here is a quick overview of the recipe steps. Please read the recipe card for the full instructions.

  1. Brew the espresso and set it aside.
  2. Heat the eggnog and milk using a frother or in a saucepan until warm and slightly frothy.
  3. Pour the espresso into a mug, top with the steamed mixture, and sprinkle with nutmeg.

💡Tips for the perfect Eggnog Latte

  • Use fresh nutmeg: Grate a little fresh nutmeg over the top for the best flavor.
  • Warm your mug: Pour some hot water into your mug to preheat it, then discard before assembling the latte.
  • Don’t overheat the eggnog: Heating it too much can change the texture due to the egg content. Gentle steaming is best!

🍴Serving suggestions

An eggnog latte is already a treat on its own, but pairing it with something extra makes it even better.Whether you’re having it for breakfast or as an afternoon pick-me-up, here are a few great options:

  • Holiday cookies: Gingerbread, shortbread, or snickerdoodles bring out the warm, spiced flavors in the latte.
  • Breakfast pastries: A buttery croissant or a cinnamon roll makes it feel like a café-style breakfast.
  • Whipped cream: Add a dollop of whipped cream and an extra sprinkle of nutmeg
  • Iced version: Let the espresso cool, then pour over ice and add the milk mixture for a chilled twist.
  • Evening treat: Enjoy it with some dark chocolate or a slice of spiced cake for a cozy night in.
  • Adult time: Add a splash of rum, bourbon, or brandy to make it an alcoholic version, or use a non-alcoholic spirit if you crave the drink without the alcohol.

🥄Storage

This latte is best enjoyed fresh and should not be stored.

💭Frequently asked questions

Can I make this without an espresso machine?

Yes, you can prepare your coffee in any way you like, as long as it is a strong brewed coffee. Use a french press, Capsule machine, or whatever else you have on hand. I do not recommend using instant coffee.

What’s the best type of eggnog to use?

Any eggnog works! A classic version is my favorite but any flavored one can give the latte a fun twist.

Can I make this dairy-free?

Yes, use a dairy-free eggnog and pair it with your favorite plant based milk.

How hot should I heat the eggnog and milk?

Warm it until steaming but not boiling. Too much heat can change the texture due to the eggs in the eggnog.

Can I make it stronger or weaker?

Adjust the espresso amount to your taste; one shot for milder flavor, two for a bolder kick.

Do I need to froth the milk and eggnog?

Frothing makes it smoother and creamier, but you can skip it if you don’t mind a thinner texture.

Can I add sweetener?

Eggnog is already sweet, but if you want more, try a little maple syrup, honey, or vanilla syrup.

Can I add alcohol to this latte?

Yes, add a splash of rum, bourbon, or brandy to make it a festive adult treat.
